Overview

Splashd is a full-scale LGBTQ+ dating and social platform I architected and built from the ground up. Unlike competitors that lock basic features behind paywalls, Splashd offers unlimited messaging, see-who-likes-you, location changes, and more, all completely free. The app features live venue check-ins so users can see who's actively at bars, clubs, gyms, and other spots in real time, along with community events, rich profiles, and text/voice/video messaging.

Technical Highlights

The backend uses NestJS with WebSocket support for real-time venue activity and messaging, Supabase for data persistence with Row Level Security, and Redis for caching and queues. The mobile client is built with React Native and Expo, using Reanimated 3 for fluid animations and optimized map rendering for proximity discovery. The marketing site at splashd.app is built with Next.js.
